About Kids Health

A key concept for learning About Kids Health is exercise, exercise, exercise! The random playground running and screaming is an excellent start to getting a child to exercise. Normal playgrounds antics such as playing tag or tossing a ball will get a child physically fit as well as contribute to muscle growth and while enhancing both fine and gross motor skills. Games that are played on playground or in open field tend to have more physical action and a higher level of energy is needed to participate. The cost of trip to the local playground is free and it is more than likely your little one will encounter a few children in his or her age group to make new friends, develop socially and physically burn off some of that bottled up energy that is common to a healthy child, well rounded and rambunctious child.

When a child is developing physically, mentally and emotionally they need a good source of energy and plenty of fluids. All diets are not created equally. The proper nutrition that is specifically tailored to kid’s health requirements is a diet of fruits, vegetables and whole grains with some yummy favorites added in as an occasional treat. When parents are concerned about their kid’s health and need reassurance on diet they may want to consider talking to a nutritionist that is specifically educated with meal plans, activities and fitness programs that are tailored to address concerns about kids health, nutrition and overall fitness. The food pyramid that is designated by the USDA is slightly different for children than it is adults. What your kids are eating today is definitely going to have an impact on your kid’s health in the future.

When thinking About Kids Health and consider the numerous ways to foster good health it is important to get back to the basics. Try to think back to when you were a kid and the activities that you and your friend or siblings used to do. Perhaps as a child you had to walk a mile uphill barefoot in the snow to the school bus or help your parents on the family farm. In today’s society the opportunities of physical fitness do not readily present themselves for taking care our health and as a role model being concerned about your kids health it is a challenge to meet the needs of everyone all the time, however with minimal effort and a lot of creativity it can be done.

Everyone remembers the first time they learned to ride a bike. They know what age they were, what color the bike was, and the important moment the training wheels came off. Riding a bike used to be a big moment in a child’s life. Unfortunately, not all children have bikes anymore. Some kids stay inside and sit on the couch. There are many reasons you should buy your kid a bike instead of a video game.

First, exercise is critical. Kids bodies are growing and they need proper fitness and exercise to stay healthy. Gym class one or twice a week isn’t enough. Biking is a fun way for a child to lead an active lifestyle. They can stay healthy and have a blast riding around the neighborhood. If your child stays indoors and doesn’t move around, they could be at risk for health problems. Biking is a simple way to keep your child healthy and happy.

What your child learns now is important. Buy your kid a bike instead of a video game because the habits they develop now could last a lifetime. If your child doesn’t learn proper fitness while they are young, they won’t practice it when they get older. The habits they develop now will be hard to break once they grow up. Children who learn the importance of biking now will continue to bike as they grow.

Biking can be a way for the whole family to stay healthy together. Instead of staying at home, the family can take a bike trip. Set aside some time for the weekend so you can all ride together. This provides your whole family with a chance to bond and experience nature together. Plus, kids pick up their behaviors from you. If they see you outside and exercising, they will be more likely to follow suit.

The bottom line is always important. Bikes may seem expensive, but you can find good deals or buy a quality used bike. A bike is a relatively inexpensive investment compared to the price of video games today. Game systems can cost a hundreds of dollars and the games can cost anywhere from twenty to one hundred dollars. Plus there are numerous amounts of games and game accessories. A solid bike can last for years.

Buy your kid a bike instead of a video game because they deserve to be healthy. A bike can instill a love of nature in a child and keep them active.

Exercise Safety for Kids

Children love to be active when it’s nice outside and while us parents can’t watch them every second of the day, you can do some things to prevent them from getting hurt. Most children love to bike ride, run around as well as swing from tree to tree and while most of us consider it a fun time, it’s also exercise. In order to ensure that your child is safe during these activities, here are some exercise safety for kids tips that can consider:

Riding a Bike: Before your child starts to even hop on a bike, get them into the habit of wearing a safety helmet as well as protective gear such as elbow and knee pads. While your child is going to hate you for it, they won’t if they fall down while going at top speeds. It’s also crucial that your child never rides around at night or even when the sun is going down due to visibility issues. Because of this, make sure that your child always wears reflective, neon colors so that they can be spotted by nearby cars.

Running Around: It’s only natural for a child to run around the yard or even the house. While there is nothing wrong with running, you’re going to want to make sure that you set your boundaries. For those that allow their children to run around in the yard, make sure that you let them know where they are allowed. If they go outside of these boundaries, punish them by putting them in timeout or even make them come in for a few hours. By continuing to do this, you’ll find that they will learn sooner or later.

Drink Lots of Water: When it comes to exercise safety for kids, always make sure that your child is receiving enough water for the day, especially for those that live in warmer climates. It’s also imperative to make sure that your child takes a break every 15 minutes for each hour. Get in the habit of making sure that your child not only has water on them at all times during the day, but also make sure that they are taking breaks outside of the sun.

Always Watch: Exercise safety for kids is very important for not only children, but for the parent’s peace of mind as well. Whether your child is running around the yard at home or even in a park, always make sure that they have some sort of parent supervision. We all were kids once and we know what kids can be capable of. By checking up on them, you can be assured that not only are they going to be safe, you can be assured that they are staying out of trouble.

Healthy Snack Choices for Kids

Keeping variety and nutrition in your child’s diet can be a daily struggle. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be. When searching for healthy snack choices for kids, remember that there really are food options that are nutritious, low-cost and fun for your child. We’ve got some suggestions for healthy snack choices for kids that will get everyone through the day without tears.

*Updating the Classics*

You might find “ants on a log” to be outdated, but what about substituting low-fat cream cheese for peanut butter, or other dried fruits for raisins? Instead of giving them apple juice to dip their graham crackers in, try low-fat yogurts. Greek yogurt is the most preferable. If your kids find it too bitter, try adding honey. The best part about these snacks, is that they’re easy enough for older children to make for themselves. They’re also healthy and so delicious that you might sneak a few bites for yourself.

*Navigating the Snack Food Aisle*

Whenever you see your children’s friends eating a popular new snack food (or your child sees their friends eating it), you probably know what comes next; “I want that too!” While some of these can be healthy, most of them are not, so we’ve got some ideas for replacements.

Goldfish: Ah, the snack that smiles back. Although there are only 140 calories in a serving, that serving is about 20 goldfish. Your kids will still be hungry afterwards. A good alternative are Annie’s whole wheat cheddar bunnies. A serving of these is ten calories less, and yet it’s more like 50 crackers (we think they’re cuter, too.)

Lunchables: Instead of Lunchables, try making a homemade party platter! Cheese, fruit and vegetable plates are a healthy snack option for any age. They can be a little expensive, so try making your own at home. Just cube your favorite fruits, veggies and cheese and set them out on a tray where your kids can get to them. You can add whole wheat crackers and bits of lunch meat to make a lean alternative to those popular little lunches.

Pizza: What child doesn’t like pizza? Well at 200 calories a slice, they can not only be full of carbs and monounsaturated fats, but much too big a snack for a little body. Try a healthy homemade version comprised of whole wheat pita, canned or bottled tomato sauce (reduced sodium), low-fat mozzarella and veggies.

*Keep it Simple*

The best snacks are usually those with the least ingredients. Don’t forget to reach for produce like oranges, bananas, carrots, bell peppers and broccoli when the kids get hungry in between meals. It may not be exciting, but it’s the easiest, most nutritious snack you can offer your child.

Try out any and all of these kid-tested, healthy snack choices for kids, your kids will thank you.

Ways kids can exercise their mind

Outside of being physically fit, it is important for a child to stay sharp mentally. When out of school for the summer this is often a challenge, as a child is not likely to stay seated and perform reading and math problems out of a school booklet when they could be playing outside with their friends. This is alright, as there are other ways kids can exercise their mind. You need to make sure the activity is fun and the child enjoys it. This way, they don’t’ actually realize they are learning or sharpening they mental skills.

Board Games

One of the ways kids can exercise their mind is through a board game. There are many board games that requires a child to use logic and problem solving skills in order to complete the game. Anything from Monopoly to Risk and especially chess requires a child to sit and think about what they are doing, what is going to help win the game, and what move to perform next. This is also a great way to spend family time together during the evening.

Crossword Puzzles and Sudoku

Another of the ways kids can exercise their mind is through written games. Crossword puzzles are great ways for a child to kill time during a road trip, and it helps them not only learn proper spelling, but problem solving skills. Just make sure you purchase material that the child is able to answer on their own. If the crossword puzzles are too difficult for the child they are more likely going to give up and not use the crossword puzzles again.

Sudoku is similar to crossword puzzles in the fact that it requires them to use their judgment skills in order to determine what number is placed where. It is also excellent for process of elimination. There are different levels of gameplay for Sudoku, so make sure again to buy something your child is going to enjoy, without becoming overly frustrated. Possibly look for a book that has different skill sets available. This way, your child is able to be challenged, without becoming upset by not benign able to answer all the problems.

Keeping your child’s mind sharp is not as difficult as it might seem. You just need to make sure there are enough options available to them in order to make sure they are able to stay occupied while having fun.

Summer Time Games for Outside Play

Keeping your children active throughout the year is important to maintaining their health, especially during the summer months while school is out and no mandated gym or recess is available. Thankfully, there are games you can create for your children in order to make sure they are able to not only receive the exercise they need, but also have fun while out of school and away from friends.

Summer Time Games for Outside Play – Park

Take your children to the park. There really isn’t a better way for your children to blow off some extra energy than at the local park. Most likely there is a play area with varying items for them to play on, ranging from swings and slides to jungle gyms and monkey bars. Better yet, if you are able to arrange a play date with some of your children’s friends, you can go as a group and relax with the parents while your children play together.

Summer Time Games for Outside Play – Yard Work Fun

Another option is to try and make yard work fun. There are chores outside and around the house that needs to be taken care of, and if you are able to make it more into a game your child is more likely to help, or at least give them a prize for completing the task. As long as there is a reward at the end of the task they are more likely to partake.

Summer Time Games for Outside Play – Made Up Sport

Create a game with your children in the back yard and completely invent new rules. You can make this game your own, even if it makes absolutely no sense. The game can be a combination of baseball and football, where your child hits the baseball and needs to make it to the other side of the yard in order to score points. Children are very imaginative, so even if you are not able to come up with rules for a new game, they sure are. And most likely, your child is going to make up rules along the way, just to make sure they win. It is better off to let them win also (but keep it close). Having a happy and healthy child is better than having a grumpy child who is upset from losing.

Let your child climb the trees in the back yard, just make sure to keep an eye on them. You probably climbed trees, as did your parents, so there is no need to prevent them from having this fun, all while exercising.

Are Kids Fitness DVD’s right for your child?

Obesity is on the rise and unfortunately the latest target is our children. High calorie and high fat foods hunt them from every side and it can be extremely challenging for parents to ensure that children are engaging in nutritious eating habits. Besides this, the sedentary lifestyles of children from school to hours of playing video games and watching TV. only make weight gain more possible. Can anything be done?

Many parents are turning to Kids Fitness DVD’s. These tools are relatively inexpensive, kids can get the exercise they need in the privacy of their own home and more importantly kids learn to get up and move. Many children are terribly shy and embarrassed about their weight. This keeps them in the vicious cycle of being too afraid to try out for sports or go outside and play which in turn causes them to be depressed, which can lead to more eating and lethargy. Kids Fitness DVD’s can break through this rut by getting kids moving in doors.
Parents who want to encourage their kids should continue exercising together or having a time of family exercise every day. Instead of sending a message that says “something is wrong with you” parents can send a message of healthy change for the entire family and use it as a time of bonding. Be forewarned, not every child will be excited about the idea, parents and guardians may have to lay down the law and set family exercise as a new rule not just a choice.

Kids Fitness DVD’s can cost from $10 – $20 a very affordable solution compared to the consequences of allowing a child to continue unhealthy eating habits that can affect them physically, socially, mentally and emotionally. There are also many choices from purely aerobic exercises to dance videos which teach kids the latest dances set to kid friendly tunes. Parents should not be afraid to have fun and spend more time laughing and moving than critiquing their kid’s moves. The idea is just to get kids moving at first – if you make it fun after a while they will be willing to learn the “right” way to do the exercises if not, a child with a weak self-esteem may check out completely and refuse to do the exercises at all.

If you are at your wits end and really want to make a difference in the life of your child try a fitness DVD, attack it with determination (get a plan) and a sense of humor – it just may be what your family needs.

Training Kids Cross Fitness

Training kids cross fitness methods create a habitual strategy for the best health of children, for the rest of their lives. Using fitness strategies such as healthy eating and various kinds of exercise can raise self-esteem, which can also lead to better grades, overall attitude toward life, and even reverse existing health issues for children.

Training Kids Cross Fitness Programs

Children benefit greatly from participating in varied types of fitness activities and classes.
Generally, a program such as this for kids includes a warm-up game which teaches a skill such as stretching, squatting or doing push-ups, and then goes into performing a particular workout for the day, which incorporates all of the skill work. The daily class usually ends with another type of game. Also addressed is nutrition, so that children begin to identify natural foods that will make them feel well to perform the best. Kids on these types of programs develop the self-confidence necessary that also gives them a sense of integrity from their individual effort, as well as interaction with the group. Usually, classes last for around one hour for each session. This gives enough time to incorporate a warm-up, an exercise routine and then a game that uses the muscle groups that were focused on. The routines and games change every day for more variety. For example, one day a routine might focus on soccer, the next basketball, and the next volleyball.

Below is a sample routine that might be part of a varied kids cross training fitness program:

• 15 minutes of Warm-up yoga stretches
• 30 Jumping Jacks
• 30 Jumping pull-ups
• 20 Kettle bell swings
• 30 Walking Lunges, 50 steps
• 30 Knees to elbows
• 30 Push press, 45 pounds
• 20 Back extensions
• Remainder of the hour: soccer game

Variety Inspires Fitness Motivation

Training kids cross fitness includes variety, which ensures much more enthusiasm than simply doing the same activity in a repetitive fashion. By including many different physical activities, there is less chance that boredom can set in. When kids get bored, they become unmotivated – which is not the recommended mental place to be when trying to encourage movement. Instead, by

The benefits of training kids cross fitness are boundless. Children develop stronger bones and muscles, by learning all of the basics of muscle training, as well as group fitness. Exercise motivates and enhances the body, while clearing the mind. It is an overall great way to learn very early in life how to handle stress management, by living a healthy lifestyle including learning about healthy foods and various forms of physical activity.

Kids Fitness Workouts

One of the most pressing issues facing millions of people across the country is the rapidly increasing rate of obese children. Obese children are far more likely to be obese their entire lives, which could lead to a significant amount of serious health concerns including heart disease and diabetes. Since childhood obesity is so prevalent, and such a significant concern, all parents and adults need to take steps to ensure that their children are leading a healthy lifestyle. One of the most important parts of teaching kids how to lead a healthy life is to encourage them to exercise.

To encourage kids to exercise, parents should work to develop kids fitness workouts that are specialized for their children. When putting together an exercise program for their kids, parents should follow various tips that could help make the workouts more enjoyable for their kids, which will make the kids more likely to continue to do them in the future.

One tip to follow when putting together kids fitness workouts would be to try and incorporate activities that the kids already like to do. These could include developing a circuit or routine that includes completing some sprints, longer runs, running circuits through large tires, climbing ropes, or playing on the money bars at a local park. All of these activities are fun for kids to complete, and require a significant amount of physical exertion. Completing these exercises on a regular basis will help a child lose weight, begin to build lean muscle mass, and stay in good shape. The exercise routine will need to be curtailed based on the age, strength, and physical condition of each kid.

Another tip for creating kids fitness workouts would be to try and make the workout into a competition or game. One reason why some kids, and many adults, do not like to exercises is that it can be boring and monotonous. If you are able to create a game or competition through the exercise routine, the kid will likely enjoy the workout far more than they would otherwise. This could include turning the workout into a race against other kids, or find ways to record a kid’s personal bests and allow them to attempt to beat their best scores going forward. As a child continues to improve, the routines should be altered to ensure that they continue to be challenging for the child to complete.

Spend a Day at the Park With Your Kids

If you have children and you are looking for a great way to spend the day that will provide exercise and not be expensive, then you should consider going to the park. If you spend a day at the park with your kids, it will be one of the best things that you have done in a long time.

One great reason to spend a day at the park with your kids is because it is very affordable if not free. The only cost involved may be the food you bring or the supplies you bring to play with. If you would like, you can pack a picnic lunch for your family to enjoy. You can spread out a blanket and everyone sit on the ground, or you can find a picnic table and spread out to eat there.

If your kids are into sports, you can bring their sporting equipment for the family to play. For example, if they like to play baseball, bring out the bats, balls, and gloves. You can set up a game for your entire family to play.

Many parks have playground equipment. Your young children will really enjoy playing on that equipment for as long as you will allow them to play.

You can also find lakes at many local parks. You can bring out bread to feed the animals in the lakes. Sometimes you can bring remote control boats to drive around the lakes. Often there are even paddle boats you can rent to ride around in with your family.

You will get your family and yourself a lot of exercise if you spend a day at the park with your kids. You can all unplug from the rest of the world and spend some time outside. It will give your kids a chance to get away from being in front of the tv and get out for some exercise.

Every family needs to spend some quality time together. It will help everyone to get along and be on the same page. If you spend a day at the park with your kids, it will give you time to really get to know them again. You will have to chance to bond with them and show them how much you truly love them. It will be the time that they have been wanting to spend with you so they can enjoy the company of their parents.
