Kids’ Fitness Equipment

In the good old days, when someone asked about kids fitness equipment, you pointed them to the nearest park. After all, monkey bars, jungle gym and see-saws were standard fixtures of community parks. But times have changes and so have our expectations. For instance, kids still play with jump ropes and hula hoops, but these have been amped up with weights and LED lights. And these are just for starters.

Full-featured, kid-size workout equipment have been developed so that little Parker and little Ashley can be introduced to physical workouts early, so that they will grow up healthy and not have to face obesity issues later on. The range of kids fitness equipment available on the market is truly amazing. There are chest bench presses and rowing machines, leg extension and leg curl equipment, all anatomically correct for kids proportions. Children and tweens can get their cardiovascular exercise and strength training on junior elliptical trainers, recumbent bikes junior stepper and stairwalkers.

Kids fitness equipment are designed to improve children’s balance and strength, promote creativity, increase cardiovascular endurance and most of all, ensure that they are having fun while working out. Children will stick with a workout program if it feels like child play.

Fitness equipment for children have found their way to hospitals, wellness centers, local gyms, rehab facilities and other kid-centric places. But these equipment do not come cheap and understandably so. A visit to your local YMCA or wellness center might afford a chance to try out some of these equipment. Have fun!
